WHAT WE DO
Bands For Land was first set up in 2010, and is a non-profit organisation which arranges fund-raising events for the charity UGANDA CHILD EDUCATION TRUST (reg.charity no 1141667). Please have a look at the website: www.ucetk.org
We held our first event in October 2010, where three local bands played for free in a small venue in Plymouth, and we raised just over £200. Since then we have worked hard to arrange more live events, and in Cambridge last year we had a very successful event which featured John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett and raised over £500. Coming up this year, we have another event in Cambridge featuring Will Kaufman who celebrates the music of the legendary Woody Guthrie.
Last year, Bands For Land Productions branched out in another direction. Our 'alternative' club night in Plymouth, 'Resurrection' is going from strength to strength and is becoming popular not only among customers, but from DJ's who want to play for us. We have established a good relationship with the club which lets us host the event, and look forward to holding more 'Resurrection' nights there in the future.
We have several other exciting things in the pipeline, which means that this project can only keep getting better and better as we progress, and it is a very exciting time for us. If you want to get involved, please go to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/groups/bandsforland) for more information.
